The police headquarters in Abuja said a Ghanaian man and a Nigerian woman suspected of supplying arms to criminal gangs in Nigeria have been arrested.

Police spokesman Frank Mba said in a statement that the police “on January 20, 2013, arrested one Daniel Ofori, a Ghanaian and Ms Olufumolayo Adeyemo, both of whom resides in Accra, Ghana and are suspected to be behind the supply of arms and ammunition to criminal groups operating in parts of the country. The suspects were arrested at Idiroko, Ogun State. A total of 5,564 rounds of live cartridges concealed in the engine compartment and the inner crevices of the chassis of a Mercedes Benz 420 SE saloon car with registration plate Lagos CC 270 FKJ driven by the said Daniel Ofori.”
