Kano gets new commissioner for women affairs

A lecturer with the Department of Economics, Bayero University, Kano, Hajia Binta Tijjani Jibril, has been appointed Commissioner for Women Affairs in a minor cabinet reshuffle by Governor Rabiu Musa, Kwankwaso. Hajia Binta replaces the former commissioner, Hajia Saratu Umar.

Two new permanent secretaries have also been sworn-in. Alhaji Lawan Badamasi was appointed clerk/permanent secretary, Kano State House of Assembly, and Alhaji Baba Abubakar Umar was appointed permanent secretary, state Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC).

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Kwankwaso said the new commissioner was appointed on merit. He charged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them. Meanwhile, the governor has signed into law the state’s Community Reorientation Council bill.

He stated that the law will strengthen the activities of the CRC, which has been doing a lot towards improving the lives of citizens of Kano, especially in terms of job creation and poverty alleviation.

“Government will continue to ensure the success of the CRC because its success is that of the entire people of Kano”, the governor stated.
