Multiple attacks in Borno state
Category: News
There are fears that many people including traders and policemen have been killed following multiple attacks in Konduga town and a market in Lassa village in Askira Uba local government areas of Borno State on Monday.
Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram have burnt the Divisional Police Headquarters of Konduga on Monday night, residents and sources in the police force said.
Sources said the gunmen, numbering about 20 stormed Konduga around 6:30pm fully armed with sophisticated weapons.
A policeman who escaped unhurt from the vicinity of the station said some of his colleagues might have been killed. “I escaped when I realized that the assailants have superior guns and we in the station were running out of ammunitions,” he said.
Elsewhere in Lassa in Askira Uba local government, it was gathered that some gunmen stormed a local market in the area on Monday and went straight to a stand of butchers who sell bush meat and killed many of them.
Also, there was a heavy explosion at Gwange area of Maiduguri metropolis yesterday.
Spokesman of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa did not issue a statement on the incidences and did not respond a text message inquiry sent by our reporter.
