‘Plateau realizes N190m from vehicle licenses, number plates’

Chairman, Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, Dr Rauta Jat, yesterday said the state government realised N190 million from the issuance of vehicle license and number plates in 2012.

Jat, who said the amount realised doubled what was realised in 2011, attributed the success to the rigorous revenue drive of the service towards better internal revenue yields with the assistance of the state’s task force on revenue.

She added that N63.5 million was realised from number plates, N59 million from vehicles and drivers’ licences, N58.9 million from sale of stickers, vehicle tags as well as compulsory badges for drivers and conductors, N19 million from vehicles registration, and N9.6 million from stamp duty and registration of business premises.

“The feat is also a testimony of hard work put in by our staff. It is very encouraging, especially if viewed alongside the security challenges in the state,” she said.

She called on motorists, who have not obtained the new number plates and licenses to do so before the expiry date of Sept. 30, 2013, stressing that no one would be allowed to use the old numbers thereafter.
