Mudi Sipikin buried in Kano

The remains of Alhaji Mudi Sipikin, a re-known poet and politician were laid to rest yesterday in Kano. Aged 85, Sipikin died on Tuesday night at Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital. Sipikin was among delegates to the 1953 London Constitutional Conference, which formalized adoption of the federal system of government for Nigeria.
The deceased, a committed patriot made enormous contributions to the political awakening and emancipation of the oppressed people in Northern Nigeria, and was among the eight founding fathers of the defunct Northern Element Progressive Union (NEPU).
