Weeks after an Abuja Federal High Court presided over by the Hon. Justice G.K Olotu reinstated the sacked Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) federal lawmakers from Katsina State, the affected lawmakers yesterday urged the relevant authorities to obey the court order and reinstate them.

The Court had on January 11, this year ordered that the legislators be reinstated ruling that “The sealed certificates of return issued to the plaintiffs upon their winning election into the National Assembly to represent their various Federal Constituencies and Senatorial Districts of Katsina State are still valid and that the plaintiffs are entitled to immediately reposes their seats in the National Assembly to represent their respective Federal Constituencies and Senatorial Districts without let or hindrance from the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and the leadership of the National Assembly.

The affected lawmakers are; Senators Abdu Umar Yandoma and Ahmed Sani Stores; Reps. Musa Salisu, Aminu Ashiru, Murtala Isah, Muntari Dandutse, Umar K, Umar Abdu Dankama, Tasiu Doguru and Mohammed Tukur.

Senator Yandoma who addressed reporters on behalf of his colleagues yesterday in Abuja expressed dismay over the continued disobedience to a declaratory judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction by both the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal by not swearing them in as directed.

He also said their counsel, Barrister Yahaya Mohammed (SAN) had written to the INEC and the leadership of the National Assembly over the Court directive and the need for its compliance.

He lamented that rather than the leadership of the National Assembly to comply with the court order and swear them in, it was insisting that the INEC must write another letter to withdraw the certificates of return issued to the incumbent lawmakers occupying the seats.
