NSC threatens legal action against "baseless" critics

The National Sports Commission, (NSC) has warned that from henceforth, it will use all legal means at its disposal to seek redress for all frivolous and false allegations against it from some sections of the public.

The Director-General of the Commission, Dr. Patrick Ekeji, made this known in his office at the National Stadium, Abuja within the week.

He maintained that the time had come for the NSC to use all legal instrument at its disposal to protect its image from the utterances and activities of people who he said have turned the act of disparaging the NSC into a pastime as well as a means of livelihood.

There have been numerous allegations as well as criticism of actions and policies of the Commission in recent weeks, but Dr. Ekeji insisted that the criticisms were baseless.  

He expressed dismay on why a "few people who masquerade as stake holders in Nigerian Sports have for personal and selfish reasons refused to see anything good in the activities of the NSC".

The NSC DG  added that such people, instead of offering useful suggestions and proposals on how to move sports forward in the country, "chose to follow the ignominious alternative of making wild allegations and spreading falsehood about happenings at the Commission".

He warned such people to desist from such actions or be ready to face the consequences.

The decision to include elite athletes in the National Sports Festival & sack Secretary-General of Federations were met with criticism.
