At last, Obuh to get paid

Head Coach of the National U20 male football team, Flying Eagles John Obuh will receive all salaries and allowances owed him before Friday (today).

Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Emeka Inyama gave the assurance in a Press Conference at the Federation's National Secretariat on Thursday.

While nothing that it was unfortunate to owe the coach such monies, Inyama maintained that the NFF was ready to clear all the debts in order to keep the coach focus on his job.

"Obuh will receive his pay before the end of today (thursday)", Inyama assured.

However, Trust Sport was unable to get confirmation of such payment from Coach Obuh as his line was not going through when we put a call across.

The team's Media Officer, Samm Audu said he was not in the know of the situation, stressing that only the coach could give confirmation.

The Flying Eagles have been in camp for the past one month, and played a number of friendly matches in the southern part of the country before heading back to Abuja.

"The NFF is resolutely committed to the Flying Eagles retaining the African Youth Championship, which we won in South Africa in 2011, when hostilities commence in Algeria on 16th March."

Camp in Tunisia

While listing the programme for the team in the year, Inyama revealed that the team will be camped in Tunisia for three weeks ahead of their participation at the African Youth Championship in Algeria.

"The team will move to Tunisia for a three-week final camping programme before flying into Algeria for the competition."

Meanwhile, the team is set to take on Benin Republic U20 team in a friendly match in Abuja and depart the country the following day for Cairo, Egypt.

"In Egypt, the NFF has arranged that the team play two friendly matches against another Algeria 2013 finalist, Egypt on the 20th and 22nd February", Inyama revealed.

He said apart from helping the Flying Eagles defend their trophy, the NFF was also working hard to ensure their qualification for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey.
