The management of Oando Plc has said those who have sustained the protest for the removal of its management officers are not registered shareholders of the company.
The announcement follows a Daily Trust story of Thursday, wherein the Trusted Shareholders’ Association of Nigeria (TSAN) renewed its call on the embattled Oando company’s management team led by its Group Chief Executive, Wale Tinubu, to resign.
President TSAN, Alhaji Mukhtar Mukhtar, said the call on Tinubu and his team to resign has become imperative to save the company from collapse.
In a swift reaction to the protest, however, the head Corporate Communications of the company, Alero Balogun, in an exclusive interview with Daily Trust said: “Upon review of our register of members and attendance list for the 40th AGM and Oando shareholders’ association database, Alhaji Mukhtar Mukhtar did not attend the 40th AGM. His name is not on the attendance list provided by our registrars and does not directly own shares in Oando.”
She further noted that Alhaji Mukhtar’s Trusted Shareholders Association has been consistently engaged to advise the company with details of its members who are Oando shareholders.
“To date they have not provided details of their members registered on the Oando shareholders database so we are unable to verify if they indeed are Oando shareholders,” Balogun said.
In an interview with Mukhtar Mukhtar, he said: “I have not received such request and they (Oando) don’t have the right to request for this information from me.
“As an association, we have the right to represent our members’ interest and if they care to know, in our petition to the House of Representative, we included the list of over 100 members who are shareholders of Oando to that petition.”
