The Kogi State police command has recovered 457 illegal weapons across the 21 local government areas of the state.

The commissioner of police in the state, Ali Janga, while parading the items, said the recovery of the illegal arms was a result of concerted efforts embarked upon by the command in line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Idris Ibrahim, to ensure a safer Kogi State.

The illegal arms recovered include 21 AK47 rifles, 14 pump action guns, eight double barrel and 69 single barrel guns, 166 Dane guns, 134 locally made pistols, 40 pistols, a G3 and a Beretta.

“We are mopping up all the illegal arms in the state for a safe Kogi; the Kogi State Police Command will not rest on its oars as effort has been intensified on the recovery of illegal arms to allow for a trouble-free state,”  he said.

The police boss called on members of the public to assist the police with useful information on its efforts to rid the state of illegal arms and criminal elements.
