The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has appealed for support in fighting quackery, saying it had registered 1.8 million teachers across the country.
The Registrar and Chief Executive officer of the council, Professor Josiah Ajiboye stated this in Yola weekend during a maiden Zonal meeting of the council with its critical stakeholders from North East.
He noted the determination of the council to professionalise the teaching profession by getting rid of unprofessional elements, calling on state governments to support the move..
‘As no country in the world can rise beyond the level of its teachers, this country will not move until we get teaching right by having good trained teachers ; a good teacher can produce good students even if he trains them under the tree," Ajiboye maintained.
"President Muhammadu Buhari’ s administration is committed to bringing back the glory of the teaching profession,we need quality teachers for quality education", Ajiboye added
