The 1 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters, Kaduna has opened a workshop on office management and document security for officers working in the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR) with a view to have effective and efficient records keeping.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 3-day workshop tagged “Office Management and Standard Record Keeping: Enhancing Service Delivery in the Nigerian Army,” Tuesday in Kaduna, the General Officer Commanding the Division, Major General Mohammed Mohammed said, “Training is the critical element that builds and sustains professional response to military assignments.”

Represented by the Commander, 41 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General John Ali, the GOC said, “As the Nigerian Army continues to professionalise, our continued training cannot be over emphasized because training is an activity leading to skilled behavior which impacts on professionalism. Training provides the platform to gain skills and professionalism judgement, mission goals cannot be realized if the users are not trained no matter the sophistication of the equipment.”

One of the resource persons and a former GOC in the division, Major General Garba Wahab (rtd) while presenting his paper titled “Document Security and Handling Training for the Nigerian Army”, said system destruction is the beginning of military warfare.

He added, “Think of building a house without doors are windows, anyone can come in and you cannot claim that the house is yours until you put in security measures and that is why the army needs to train and retrain its officers and soldiers on effective document security.”

He noted that every country must protect its documents from the enemy in order to avert war and protect it’s accrete.
