The Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) Tuesday, said that it has received over 18,000 applications from professionals for a slot meant for 42 persons in its university which would commence operation in October 2018.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibot Ete Ekwe Ibas who made this known during a press briefing to announce the take-off of the University added that it would start with programmes in three faculties, arts and social sciences, management sciences and science and start off with 450 students.

The Naval Chief who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Vice Admiral Henry Babalola explained that the influx of application was due to the credibility of the Nigerian Navy and its desire to spearhead knowledge in emerging fields capable of solving Nigeria’s challenges.

He said that the university would offer courses in emerging fields such as forensic science, cyber security, software engineering, industrial mathematics, tourism studies and other arts courses.

He said, “ADUN has developed partnership with universities overseas to expand the breadth of teaching and learning resources available and accessible to students and faculty.

“Some of these partnerships will also afford our students the opportunity to complete part of their degree programs here in Nigeria, and the other part at our partner university overseas.

Earlier the president of ADUN, Dr Pavlos Pavlou added that the students would be exposed to best practices through teaching and mentoring by industrial professionals, exchange programs and internships at the top corporations here in Nigeria and overseas.

He explained that students from ADUN would not only graduate with the much needed academic credentials but most importantly will be job ready graduates equipped with the skills for fruitful careers and to be job creators themselves”.
