Anambra State Ministry of Education has sacked two school principals for illegal collection of fees from students.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha, who gave the revelation in a radio audience participatory programme ‘Score Card’, said another principal is facing disciplinary action for examination malpractice.

Omenugha explained that the measure was part of efforts to promote quality and affordable education in the state.

She also disclosed plans by the government to build teacher’s quarters in schools in all the rural and riverine areas of the state to ensure the comfort of teachers, as well as motivate them to put in their best in the discharge of their duties.

The commissioner called on people to key into the state government’s ‘Adopt a school Policy Prgramme’, insisting that the business of education cannot be left for the government alone.

"We appeal to wealthy individuals to support schools in their communities to ensure that children of poor parents have access to quality education," she added.
