The Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has said that over one million jobs can be created if smuggling of poultry products into the country is reduced by 30%.
He stated this recently in Abuja, at a stakeholders’ consultative meeting on illegal importation of food items into Nigeria.
Sen. Lokpobiri affirmed government’s commitment to deal with illegal importation of poisonous, harmful products and expired agricultural produce into the country.
“Thailand is doing everything together with stakeholders to sustain their rice industry, I think the time has come for us to have stakeholders to find a common solution to some of these problems,” he said.
