The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Katsina State under its new Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) has commence the training of 30 unemployed youths in livestock businesses.

The thrust of the scheme is to make the youths embrace agriculture as a business, earn income, as well as create mass employment.

Speaking at the flagging off, the NDE Director General, Nasir Ladan, represented by the state’s acting Director, Abdulkarim Siriki, said  the selected youths would first undergo a two-week adaptive field training in livestock before linking them with money deposit banks.

He said, “Off-takers will be identified within their locality to reduce the risk of produce glut in the market.

“We intend to raise an agric business economy capable of delivering sustained prosperity by meeting domestic food security goals, generating exports and supporting sustainable income and job growth, he said.

He said the NDE of today had zero tolerance for corruption and would not entertain any indulgence from staff, noting that hard work and diligence will be greatly rewarded.”
