The Commissioner, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Kaduna state, Mrs. Ruth Geoffrey Alkali has disclosed plans by the state government to promote the culture and tourism potential of the state at the 39th edition of the Kaduna International Trade fair with a view to attracting more investors.
She said, the fair which commenced on 23rd February, 2018 with the theme ‘Promoting Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for International Competiveness’ has over time become an important annual event in the calendar of Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) as well as the government of Kaduna state.
She noted that the event which started as a domestic fair with emphasis on the agricultural sector in 1974 on a bi-annual basis has continued to date, will accommodate both local and international businesses ranging from manufacturers to retailers, suppliers, distributors and more.
She added, “It is hoped that the participants will in the long run come back and invest in the state having seen that it is a potential hub for investments in business and tourism which my ministry is in charge of.
“Governor Nasir El-Rufai has put in measures to ensuring that the state provides an enabling environment for business to spring up and strive which will directly and indirectly create employment for the teeming youth."
“The Ministry under Mal. Nasir El-Rufai is determined to promote and encourage development of industries and industrial inputs across the state as well as promote all aspects of economic sectors through national and international cooperation, in order to boost the revenue of the state.”
She described the event as an avenue to promote tourism potentials of the state to participants at the fair saying, "We have a lot of tourism potentials that this government is determined to unearth and promote which we believe will boosts our revenue base.”
She pointed out that the 23 local government areas of the state are expected to per-take in the 39th edition of the fair adding, “Agricultural products cultivated from each of the local community will be displayed at the Kaduna state pavilion.
