Eight hundred aged and less privileged people affected with various ailments in Matazu local government area of Katsina state have benefited from free treatment by a nongovernment group Ukashatu foundation.
The ailments include ophthalmic cases, hypertension, peptic ulcer and diabetes.
The chairman of the foundation Dr. Hamza ukashatu Matazu said benefiaries were drawn from the ten wards of the area and were in financial crisis but decided to remain with the ailments.
According to him the gesture was aimed to complement federal and state governments in health care delivery.
In her addressed at the event, wife of Katsina state governor Hajia Hadiza Aminu Bello Musari applauded the effort of Ukashatu Foundation for saving the lives of the lower class in the area. Hadiza Masari urged wealthy individuals in the area to emulate the foundation for the development of the area.
