Nine students graduated with first class degrees as Umaru Musa Yaradu’a University, (UMYU) hold its 3rd conovation ceremony today.

A total of 1,397 students out of which 1,290 were for first degrees while 107 are post graduates students.
 
Further breakdown shows that 300 students got second class upper, 639 for second class lower, 316 thrid class and 26 had pass degree. There are 2 PhDs, and 105 Master Degrees.
 
Speaking at the event, the visitor and governor of Katsina, Aminu Masari acknowledge the challenges of the university saying that ‘ government needs to increase budgetary allocation and releases of funds to cater for the expansion of the academic programmes of the university that are largely demand driven.
 
In his remarks, the vice chancellor Idris Funtua said academic programmes have continued to expand so as to meet the demand of the society.
 
In addition to the present fully accredited 35 undergraduate programmes and 26 post graduate programmes, the university is introducing additional five PhD and four Masters programmes this academic year.
