ABU, IKCOE degree affiliation enters second year as 172 matriculate

The Vice Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Professor Ibrahim Garba said of the over 12,400 candidates that applied for admission into its 12 affiliated Colleges of Education only a little above 5,000 were admitted.


About 172 of the admitted students are at the Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsima, Katsina (IKCOE) undergoing various Degree programmes in affiliation with ABU.

 Speaking at the 2nd matriculation ceremony of undergraduates students at Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsin-ma, Katsina, Garba noted that being admitted is a special privileged that one must uphold and use judiciously.

He said, over 90,000 others applied to the main campus out of which a little above 11,000 were admitted noting that ‘ university education is normally an exciting experience and the main purpose is to acquire knowledge and skills to prepare one for a useful life and become a good citizen’

He urged the matriculating students to shun away from vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse and indecent dressing noting that any student who could not complete a programme of study within the maximum period allowed or due to poor academic performance shall be withdrawn.

In his remarks, the Provost of the college, Dr. Maigari Abdu said the college is poised to continue to in its drive to bring quality education closer to the people saying that ‘ we hope to add more programmes to the already existing ones’

He said the affiliation with ABU is yielding positive results as the first full session went very well with a high degree of success in terms of results and no case of breach of rules and regulations were recorded.

About 172 students were matriculated as the second batch of students undergoing degree programmes at the college.
