The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has launched a 24-hour self-service kiosk to enable consumers pay for electricity at their convenience.
Unveiling the kiosk yesterday, the Managing Director of AEDC, Engr. Ernest Mupwaya said it will complement the E-payment solutions that it has to enable customers to make payments via internet websites which will minimise inconvenience customers face in accessing AEDC pay points.
“What we are witnessing today is an example of the many solutions which AEDC has been rolling out in order to ensure that its esteemed customers have 24/7 access to procuring electricity units through platforms that are user friendly,” Mupwaya said.
He said AEDC was setting up modalities to ensure the sustainability of the machines and other feedback networks where customers can make complaints on poor service.
In his remarks, Chief Operating Officer of Misterich Ltd, Sunday Idoko said the company partnered with AEDC in establishing the self-service kiosk. He noted that the kiosk accepts both cash and debit card for payment and has been rolled for operations just like an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
Idoko added that the target is to extend the self-service innovation to other outlets so that it will be very convenient for the consumers to make payments and that customer care lines are always opened for complaints.
He said the project which is also in partnership with Kallak Power, took five years to set up the machine while assuring that there are efforts to make more machines available to ease the payment of electricity charges.
