Angry youths of sabon gaya, a village along Kaduna/Abuja highway have barricaded the highway following the killing of a member of the joint task force volunteering to secure the area this afternoon.

DailyTrust gathered from a source in the area that the young man (name not known yet) went to the farm and was killed by unknown person(s).

Angered by the death of one of them, the youths took to the highway stopping travellers going to Abuja and those coming into Kaduna. This however led to heavy gridlock, leaving travellers stranded.

The youths who decried high level of insecurity in the area, said they will not leave the highway until government assure them of maximum security and protection.

"We are not fighting or being violent, all we want is solution to our problems. Government should not only come to us when they need our votes, it should put a stop to incessant robbery attacks, killings and kidnapping among others in our area," they said.
