Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has vowed that none of its members will be resuming soon from its ongoing strike until all demands that necessitated the action are met.

The Coordinator of Zone B of the Union, Comrade Abdullahi Yalwa, who made this known in a press briefing held at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa State.

He said that unless all conditions are fully met, members would not return to classes because past experiences with relevant negotiating authorities have shown that promises made are seldom met.

Yalwa explained that the conditions that led to the strike action included the non-implementation of the NEEDS Assessment Report which, according to him, had been reviewed from the N652, 591 to N800, 000 as a result of inflation and inclusion of new polytechnics.

He added that other conditions that necessitated the strike included shortfalls in personnel releases and withdrawal of allowances, condition of state-owned institutions, non-release of CONTISS 15 Migration arrears, non-passage of the amendment bill of the polytechnic act, infractions in the appointment of rectors and continued victimization of union leaders.
