Not fewer than 1000 youth attended the Plateau Youth Summit on participation in the electoral processes organized by a Community Action for Popular Participation (CAPP).

 

The summit which was held at Country Home Hotel in Jos yesterday has attracted the participants from the two local government each of three senatorial zone of the state.

 

The summit also includes students from University of Jos, Plateau State Polytechnics, Plateau State University, Bokkos and Federal College of Education, Pankshin among others.

 

CAPP is an organizer and sponsor of the public awareness programmes for the Nigerian citizens in order to actively participate in the electoral processes.

 

The Acting Director, CAPP, Mr. Nelson Ananze said that the main aim of the summit was to prepare the minds of the youth in order to participate in the electoral processes and be ready to take this country to a greater height.

 

“We don’t want our youth to be used as political thugs, or be used as agents of snatching ballot paper and box. We want them to be youth that would contribute positively so that we can have a better nation.” He said.

 

Mr. Ananze also urged youth to be monitoring projects in their communities so that all the contracts would be completed in due time.

 

“If contractor is not doing well then make a lot of noise, that would make him to sit up and complete the work in due time.” He said.
