Some Bwari youths under the aegis of the Hausawa Indigenous Progressive Youth Forum have urged the FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, to set up an independent inquiry commission to investigate the Christmas Day crisis in the community.

The leader of the group, Abubakar Ango Abdullahi, said the independent commission of inquiry will be able to “dig out the root cause of the incident and bring culprits to book.”

Abdullahi, while addressing journalists yesterday in Bwari, said the inquiry commission is important in order to ascertain the worth of goods lost during the clash and compensation paid accordingly.

“Hausawa Indigenous Progressive Youth Forum wishes to sympathise with the entire residents of Bwari particularly the marketers who were most adversely affected,” he said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Bwari Markets Traders Association, Alhaji Shehu Muhammad, said more than 1,300 traders affected by the fire outbreak now find it difficult to feed their families.

“The government has not come to our aid. Presently we don’t have food to eat and we are begging the government to look into our condition and the situation we are now.

“This fire was an intentional act and not a natural disaster so I am begging the government to set up a committee of inquiry to find out the perpetrators of this act and bring them to book to forestall future occurrence,” he said.
