The CFAO group, with its subsidiary CFAO Equipment, the sole distributor of the FUSO brand in Nigeria, in conjunction with Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has unveiled a multimillion naira FUSO assembly plant at its Lagos facility.

The inauguration which featured the unveiling of the first locally assembled truck was attended by the Minister of Industry Trade and Investment, Dr. Okey Enelamah, represented by the Director-General, Nigerian Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr Jelani Aliyu. 

The plant described as a major Japanese investment in Nigeria is expected to churn out 500 units of Canter Trucks per year.

The plant located at the Amuwo Odofin Industrial Area shares MFTBC’s stringent quality standards and is the second FUSO truck plant in Africa.

Chairman and CEO of CFAO, Mr Richard Bielle, said the inauguration of the plant coincided with the celebration of CFAO’s 115th year in Nigeria with presence across the Mobility, Healthcare and Consumer goods sectors. 

The Director, International Sales Operations, Daimler Trucks Asia, Mr Ilan Elad, Chairman of CFAO Nigeria Plc, Mr Gbenga Oyebode and CFAO Country Manager, Mr Thomas Pelletier said the inauguration of the plant was a milestone in Nigeria’s automobile industry.
