Arturo Vidal will not leave Bayern Munich in the winter transfer window despite speculation that Chelsea want to sign him.

The Blues are reportedly keen to acquire the 30-year-old midfielder, who is tied to the Bundesliga giants until June 2019.

Vidal has left the door open to a possible departure in the summer, telling Radio Cooperativa: “I’m happy at Bayern Munich and I will continue here until June. I hope to win the Champions League and then we shall see. Right now, I’m 100 percent committed to the Bavarian club and there’s no chance of me changing teams.”

Vidal joined Bayern in the summer of 2015 from Juventus in a €37 million transfer, but the arrival of Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka in July could see the Chilean struggle for regular playing time.

Vidal was linked with Chelsea last year, having worked with Antonio Conte at Juventus from 2011 until 2014.

Conte recently spoke about the “great respect” he has for Vidal when asked about his club’s reported interest in the midfielder.

Vidal came on as a second-half substitute in Bayern’s 4-2 home triumph over Werder Bremen on Sunday, a result that lifted Jupp Heynckes’ side 16 points clear of Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga.

“We have a big advantage in the standings but there’s still some way to go in the tournament,” Vidal said. “Anything can happen in football. We hope to become champions as soon as possible in order to focus 100 percent on the Champions League.”

Bayern face Besiktas in the round of 16 in Europe’s elite club competition.
