Civil servant remanded over appointment letters forgery

The police in Gombe have arraigned a civil servant with the state Ministry of Health, before a magistrate’s court over allegation of forging appointment letters.

The accused person, Yusuf C, 47, resident of Shamaki ward, Tudun Wada in the metropolis, attached to the Record office of the Specialist Hospital, Gombe, was accused of criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery.

The police First Information Report (FIR) stated that sometime in May 2017, he conspired with one Alhaji Yaya Adamu, a staff of Funakaye LGA of the state, now at large, and allegedly defrauded Helen Daniel, Shedrack Modi, Louis Ali and Zebullun Baba, all of Kaltungo LGA.  

Abba allegedly collected the sum of N314,000 and gave forged appointment letters of the State Polytechnic, Bajoga to each of them.

The accused pleaded guilty to the three-count charge. However, Police prosecutor, Inspector Habibu Danjuma applied to the court to adjourn the matter to enable police arrest the second accused, who was still at large.

The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Japhet Maida, granted the application and adjourned the case to November 28. 

He ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody.
