The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Field Superintendent of the Apostolic Church Nigeria, Pastor John Buzu, has urged church leaders to be liberal in meeting the needs of the less privileged in the society.
He said the church should do more for its members by also investing in business opportunities that members can benefit from.
“You cannot be a church leader and you see your brother hungry and you allow him to languish in hunger, when you are eating to your satisfaction,” he said.
He said the move would give a sense of belonging to the needy and ease the pains of the present economic challenges and not just by praying for them.
He said Christianity has gone beyond only praying for the needy.
Pastor Buzu made the call while addressing journalists on the side lines of the church’s 14th annual convention.
He said Christianity is more of a relationship. “Relationship means offering to the other person what you have, no matter how small it is. This should be done not only in word, but in terms of material things.
“The church should learn to share and see everyone as brothers and sisters. That is what is called Christianity.”
On the theme of the convention, ‘Overflowing Grace’, he said the convention would stress the need for the church to emphasize on the goodwill of God towards his followers and that success is not based on hard work but by the grace of God which is paramount in any Christian faith.
