National industrial court sitting in Kaduna has issued a restraining injunction stopping Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state from mass retrenchment of over twenty thousand primary school teachers following their failure in the controversial competency test conducted earlier in October.

The governor resolved to lay-off the teachers in line with his bid to reform education sector of the state after the affected teachers allegedly failed the test they administer to primary four pupils.

The issue was greeted with mix reactions across the country where many consider it as a best move to addressing various ills in the educational sector of the country.

Justice Lawal Mani gave the restraining order until the final verdict is passed on the matter and the case was adjourned to February 6th, 2018.
