The League of Civil Society Groups has chided the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for allegedly freezing the bank account of one of Nigeria’s Telecommunication giants, Pinnacle Communications.
The groups, in a statement jointly signed its President Kamal Adefila and Secretary Mukhtar Akoshile accused the ICPC of gross violation of principle of fairness in its anti-corruption fight.
The group, which also described the freezing of telecom coy account as witch-hunting, also questioned the right ICPC had to freeze an account when it had not concluded on its investigation or got a court injunction to do so.
‘‘The group asked the ICPC to thread with caution and be upright in its anti-corruption drive so as not ruin the goodwill of spirited Nigerians who are using their hard earn resources to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s drive to improve local contents,’’ the statement said.
