The Chairman of Daily Trust Foundation, Wada Maida has said that an editor who does not keep pace with the trends will be left behind because the landscape of journalism is changing faster than previously thought.
Wada spoke Monday on the first day of Daily Trust – MacArthur ‘Editors chair training’ held in Abuja.

He said, “The reality is that the media has converged; it is no longer as we used to know it. Previously, we talked about radio journalists, television journalists, newspaper journalists, data analysts, even expert feature writers or the crack reporters who took pride in being called a ‘newsman’.”
He explained that modern journalist should learn to engage in multiple tasks because they are required to write stories, upload photos, videos, audios, produce charts, graphs, and tables that visually explain the variables in the stories.
To keep up with the trend, Wada said they brought in facilitators from UK’s Press Association to train editors on functional digital knowledge as well as best practices of managing a newspaper.
According to him through the aid of MacArthur Foundation, Daily Trust has been able to train 153 reporters across different media houses on “Introduction to Investigative and Data Journalism”, “Digital Journalism”, “Large Data and Infographics Training”, “Investigating the Education Sector”, “Investigating the Power (Electricity) Sector” and the ongoing week long “Editors chair training”.
