A clash between suspected cattle rustlers disguised as herdsmen and a farmer in Kankai village, Danmusa LGA of Katsina State has led to the death of the farmer, one Salisu Sada.
Confirming the incident, Katsina police command spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah, said over 500 cows were reportedly seen entering Danmusa town and vandalising several farms.
He said about 160 of the cows stormed the farm of the deceased and destroyed his plantation. He added that the deceased was attacked and killed on the spot when he attempted to drive off the cows from his farm.
Isah said two elderly persons who later came to claim ownership of the cows and three others seen controlling the cows after the incident have all been arrested and moved to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
