Worried by the poor participation of women in aviation business in Nigeria, Mr. Ossai Ilome, CEO of Business Upgrade, who is also co-founder of Miss Aviation Africa and convener of SAATM Innovations & Opportunities Conference, has said his organisations are creating opportunities for more women inclusion in aviation in Nigeria and Africa.
Speaking on the forthcoming conference and exhibition themed, ‘Liberalized Africa Aviation Market: Need for Efficient Spectrum Management & Effective Value Chain Development’, Mr. Ilome said the event will also witness the debut of ‘Miss Aviation Africa’ who would be chiefly responsible in creating aviation awareness among young women and encourage them to take up opportunities in the industry.
“Based on the statistics that we have, we only have about 3% of women that are in the management/executive positions in the aviation industry. Therefore, we felt that a combination of all quality of core customer service and women empowerment can suffice, so we decided to use the platform of Miss Aviation Africa to promote women participation in aviation.”
“The conference, which will feature the inauguration of Africa Aviation Spectrum Group, Africa Aviation Fashion Challenge and Exhibition, Agriculture Aviation Exhibition, the crowning ceremony of Miss Aviation Africa Beauty queen otherwise known as Queen of Aviation and other technology and innovation exhibitions, is billed to hold from 13th to 14thof September, 2018.
