The Adamawa state primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA) has called  for active media participation in campaign against polio.

The chairman of the agency, Dr. Abdullahi Belel called for the new partnership  at a sensitisation workshop for media executives and journalists organised by the agency  in conjunction with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)  and World Health Organisation (WHO) n Yola.

Lamenting the fact  that one million children died yearly from polio in Nigeria, while many suffered disability, Belel noted the need for sustained media campaign to change the attitude of parents.

He therefore disclosed  the formation of a new group of  selected  journalists, ‘Journalists Against Polio"(JAP) in the state  to drive the awareness campaign on polio immunisation, adding that UNICEF had established 226 health centres in  the state for immunization of all children in the state before the end of 2018 .

Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chairman of Adamawa state Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), Umar Dankano, assured the organizers of the  media practitioners commitment to achieving polio free society.
