Applicants in the 2015 recruitment of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) have asked a National Industrial Court in Abuja to stop the ongoing recruitment into the service.
Simon Galadima, Charles Otaka and Esther Azizu in an application last week, asked the court to make an order of interim injunction restraining the NIS from carrying out any recruitment exercise or replacing their positions or vacancies pending the ruling on the motion before the court.
In the application filed by their counsel, Baba Panya Musa, the claimants said they were among 2000 applicants in the May 2015 recruitment exercise that were dispatched three months after commencement of training.
The claimants told the court that they obtained an emailed ‘Letter of Invitation’ from the NIS to a new set of applicants for physical examination and document verification scheduled thus: Assistant Inspector of Immigration (AII), November 27, 2017; and Immigration Assistant Cadre (IA3), November 29, 2017.
They are therefore asking the court to reinstate them to their duty posts from the date of employment being May, 2015 having undergone three-month induction course.
