Iscom University of Benin Republic in collaboration with Aminu Kano International Foundation has offered 50 Kano state students scholarship to study various courses in the university as part of the memorandum signed by the university and the foundation.
Speaking to newsmen after the conduct of an interview of the first batch of students, the president of the foundation Malam Abba Aminu Kano stated that, the foundation finds it necessary to wade in into the educational sector taking into consideration the level of backwardness of the north in education. According to him, the foundation has been in talks with the Iscom University for quite a long time before an agreement was successfully signed to give scholarship to students from Nigeria.
“All the need financial commitments needed are concluded, what the students have to do is to only pay for their accommodations,” said the President.
Similarly, the leader of the Iscom University delegation during the interview session, Alhaji Saminu Sanusi stated that the partnership is the first of its kind in the history of the university adding that the scholarship awarded is also aimed at engaging the youths in becoming more productive.
“This is the beginning and we will continue with it every year, it is a deliberate attempt to curtail social vices among youths and also to promote productivity,” said the delegation leader.
