Five persons suspected to be among the gang of bandits terrorising and killing residents of Jibia and Magamar Jibia in Katsina have been remanded in court.
The suspects, Dahiru Ahmadu, 37years, Sani Ahmadu, 35 years, Rabiu Sani, 25 years, Sani Ahmadu, 35, Samaila Lawal, 26 and Rabe Ila 25 were arraigned before a senior magistrate court in Katsina
A police first information report deposited at the court said they are being charged for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and culpable homicide.
The report revealed that, on January 11 at about 2030hrs, some group of armed robbers numbering about three and armed with AK 47 rifles went and attacked one Alhaji Saminu Gaye of Magama Jibia and shot him.
The victim who was confirmed dead at the hospital was said to have sustained gunshot injuries on different parts of his body.
In the case of investigations, the accused were arrested out of which Dahiru Ahmadau and Sani Rabiu confessed to have taken part in committing the crime.
They were also said to have confessed to have made calls alongside other gang members who are now at large demanding N10m from one Alhaji Idris and Maijamila all of Magama or else they would come back and kill them.
Their actions were said to be contrary to section 97, 221, of the Penal Code and Section 1(2)(a) of the Robbery and Fire Arms Act 2004.
The Magistrate court subsequently adjourned the matter to April 16 for further mention and asked the accused to be remanded in prison custody till then.
