The newly recruited personnel of the Kano State Public Complaints and Ant-Corruption Commission have started resigning from their positions due to poor salary packages, Kano Chronicle, learnt.
A credible source within the commission hinted our reporter that some of the 140 newly recruited personnel had tendered their resignation letters to the commission and more were about to present theirs.
“They are leaving because they got better jobs. Our problem here is poor salary package. Government should do something to save the situation otherwise the money it invested in training the new personnel will be a waste.
“Government spent huge money on recent training of the personnel at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), unfortunately they are leaving. I know six new staff who have tendered their resignation letters to the commission and about 12 others are also planning to leave very soon.
“I hope the efforts being made by the chairman of the commission to improve our salary will succeed, otherwise more personnel will leave unceremoniously and that will be a serious setback in the ongoing fight against corruption in the state,” the source said.
He said the irony was that if the commission continue to lose the best hands, those that would come after them might not be as capable as them and that would seriously affect the crusade against corruption.
When contacted on phone for comment, the Chairman of the commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado said, he was out of the state for an official assignment and therefore he could not comment on the issue.
