The kidnappers of three management staff of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (FETHA) in Ebonyi State has demanded N100 million as ransom on each of the three victims.

This came barely two days after members of the Nigerian Medical Association, Ebonyi State chapter, staged a peaceful protest, asking for their release.

Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that the three men who have been in captivity for five days were kidnapped by unknown gunmen on their way to Abuja along the Lokoja highway.

The names of the three are; Dr. Emaka Ogah, the chief medical director, executive director of finance, Mr Ugoma Sylvester and Mr. Christopher Ogbu, the head of administration.

“Yes, the incident happened on Wednesday on their way to Abuja. l hope they would be released unhurt because we cannot afford the kind of money the men are asking for. They are asking us for N100 million as ransom for each of them”, a source said.

On Friday, doctors in the state embarked on a protest. Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Dr. Ikwudima Austin, chairman of the NMA in the state, lamented that members of the union had become targets.
