The jury for the 2017 Life in My City (LIMCAF) has been announced with some reputable artist featuring on the list for the 11th edition of the contest.

The 2017 Jury is headed by the former president of the Society of Nigerian Artists, Kolade Oshinowo, a distinguished artist and art teacher.

He is joined by an equally eminent team of veteran and contemporary artists such as Joe Musa, former DG of the National Gallery of Art; international artist-curator, Amarachi okafor; founder of Thought Pyramid Art Centre, Jeff Ajueshi; internationally-acclaimed poet and painter, Nkechi Nwosu-Igbo; and, artistic director of Kaduna-based Masterpiece Artstec, Ayo Aina.

They will be responsible for judging the more than 200 artworks usually entered for the annual competition in 10 zones, out of which 100 will be selected for the grand finale in Enugu.

Fifteen winners are expected to emerge from this list are will go away with a total prize money of 3 million naira.

However, at least another 10 artists get consolation prizes and many more get to sell their paintings at the festival.

According to Dr Ayo Adewunmi, Art Director of the Festival the 2017 jury was selected with the greatest care and to reflect the immense growth of the festival over the past 11 years, as well as to represent the great diversity of artworks usually entered for the festival.

In the meantime entries for the 2017 Festival, which for the first time were online, have since closed and LIMCAF’s zonal exhibitions are beginning this week and into October in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Auchi, Uyo and Enugu. From these zones, 100 finalists will be selected to feature in the Grand Finale Exhibition and Gala night opening in Enugu, Monday 23rd Oct. to Sat. 28th Oct.
