The César Egido Serrano Foundation has recorded over 43, 000 works entered from 172 countries, including Nigeria, for its International Micro-Story Contest.
In the fourth edition, 35, 609 stories entered from 149 countries. Now in its fifth edition, the countries with the most participants on this occasion have been Spain, Argentina, United States of America, Venezuela, Egypt, Mexico, Colombia, Nigeria, Australia and Brazil.
There has also been great participation from other countries such as United Kingdom, Canada, India, Morocco, Chile, Peru, South Africa, Cuba, Algeria, Israel, Ecuador, Uruguay, Iraq, Syria, Germany, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Russia.
The first prize consists of $ 20,000 and there will be also three runners-up prizes of $ 2,000 each, for the different official languages of the award, Spanish, English, Arabic and Hebrew. The results will be announced next year
In the previous edition, the first prize was won by the American writer Emily Raboteau, professor at New York University, Oscar Darío Gomez, publicist resident in Medellin, Colombia, Soad Suliman, television journalist from Cairo, Egypt, and Mira Kaufman, biologist from Jerusalem, Israel.
