A Maiduguri High Court yesterday sentenced one Hassan Adamu to 21 years’ imprisonment for armed robbery.

Hassan Adamu and two others, Ali Saleh and Mohammed Umar, who are at large, stormed a compound in London Ciki, Maiduguri metropolis sometime in June 2011 and stole a Honda 1998 model car, along with sums of money and jewellery.

Upon the conviction of the Adamu, his counsel, Yahaya Dunoma, pleaded with the court to give soft punishment to his client as a first offender, adding that he would learn his lesson even with the soft punishment.

Delivering judgment, Justice Gana Wakkil said the accused persons had committed an offence punishable under Section 298(b) of the Penal Code.

“After considering all the facts before this court, I hereby sentence you to 21 years imprisonment,” the judge said.

Meanwhile, Justice Wakkil has charged the Nigeria Police Force to intensity effort in arresting Ali Saleh and Mohammed Umar who are both at large.
