Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) has announced the nominees for its second annual NET Honours People’s Choice Awards.
The organiser of the award event, in a statement on Friday, said the award aimed at recognizing top performers in the entertainment industry, including media celebrities.
It added that those on the nominees’ list winners were chosen based on “the data found in our report of trends and searches, using website and social media analytics” from the previous year.
According to the organiser, the nominees are made up of individuals from different works of life and comprise musicians, actors, media practitioners and many others.
The statement reads: “Davido, Wizkid, Tekno, Mr Eazi and Olamide are nominated in the ‘Most Popular Male Musician’ category while Tiwa Savage will face stiff competition from Yemi Alade, Simi and Chidinma for ‘Most Popular Female Musician’.
“Another keenly contested category is the ‘Most Popular Couple’,” which has nominees like “2Baba and Annie Idibia, Banky W and Adesua Etomi, Peter and Lola Omotayo Okoye as well Funke Akindele and JJC.”
“The recipients of NET Honours do not completely comprise entertainers; media personalities Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Toke Makinwa, Daddy Freeze and Toolz are also recognized.
“Spread over sixteen categories, winners will be announced at the annual NET event, Nigerian Entertainment Conference on April 25, 2018 in Lagos,” it stated.
It will be recalled that the award – NET Honours PCAs – was introduced in 2017. It accorded top Nigerian entertainers with the accolades they earned by being the most important individuals in their craft in the year under review.
