At least 1,400 corps members posted to Gombe state for the 2017 Batch B Stream I service have trained in vocational skills under the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED).

They spent 10 days in camp to undergo the training in auto mobile, agro allied, food processing, leather works, beats making, fashion design, film and photography, cosmetology and barbing among others.

At their passing-out, coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Gombe David Markson, said SAED was introduced to make the corps members self-reliant after their service year.

Makson said the government can no longer provide white collar jobs for the teeming youths graduated by higher institutions annually, therefore, he urged them to take the trades they have learnt seriously.

“Those that are serious will be re-train to perfect the trades they have learnt while at the camp and be given soft loan to start a business,” he said.
