Ondo State Government has approved five more Mother and Child hospitals to render qualitative healthcare services  to pregnant women and under five years old children at no cost.

The five hospitals will be sited in Ikare, Owo, Ore, Okitipupa and Igbojoda, making seven, with two of such hospitals already established in Akure and Ondo.

Over 500 health facilities across the state would continue to serve as mini centres for the vulnerable.

Health commissioner Dr Wahab Adegbenro also said the state executive council, which approved the five hospitals, also approved upgrade the state School of Health into College of Health.

He said that such step would empower  the school to offer Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma, saying the school would be administered by its governing council.

Adegbenro  said that a bill to enact it into law would be sent to the state House of Assembly for approval.

Mrs Olawumi Ilawole, the Senior Adviser on Education to the Governor, said that the SEC was able to pass the memo to set out administrative structure and policy management of the Public Service Training School, Ilara-Mokin .

Ilawole said the school, established by the last administration, would henceforth have its structure and curriculum with courses to be taught in the school.
