The Anambra Police Command  has absolved the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Friday’s fracas that left two persons dead in Onitsha, Anambra state.

The social media  has been with reports that three persons were killed in Onitsha, same Friday the flag off campaign of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Tony Nwoye in the November 18 poll was held.

In press statement by the Police Public Relation Officer in the state, Nkeiruka Nwode, and made available to newsmen, the command debunked the rumor, institing that there was no iota of truth in the stories.

She said the ugly incident has nothing to do with the APC rally, hugely attended by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, 12 APC governors, 17 ministers and no fewer than 25 members of the national assembly, among others.

Some opponents of the party in the election had catched into the incident to score political points, allegedly linking the party with the mayhem.

While explaining that the incident, was occasioned by a melee between the police and a rebellious driver, which was led to the death of the driver and hijacked by some miscreants to further escalate the situation, Nwode warned against spreading of rumours capable of over heating the polity.
