The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the weekend announced the prohibition of pregnant women from performing Hajj from 2018 Hajj exercise.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Mohammed Tunde-Jimoh, told journalists in llorin that the ban had become imperative to save pregnant women from the hardship they normally encountered in Makah and Madinah.

“The board is collaborating with the state Ministry of Health to detect pregnant women. The board is hereby warning pregnant women from applying for Hajj registration form,” he said. 

The Executive Secretary said the Board would only allow aged intending pilgrims accompanied by a relation to assist the pilgrims in carrying out the Hajj rites.
