Pilgrims who have just returned from this year’s hajj in Saudi Arabia have been enjoined to let the spiritual exercise have positive impacts in their lives.
This is contained in a statement in Ibadan by the Chairman, Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN, Oyo State Chapter, Alhaji Ridwan Fasasi.
Alhaji Fasasi said the new pilgrims should intensify efforts in doing good to complement Allah’s reward that those who successfully performed hajj rites would be like new born without any sin.
He noted that the sacrifice and stressful activities embarked on while undertaking the hajj rites were enough reasons the new pilgrims should avoid acts that would vitiate their hajj.
The MMPN Chairman emphasised that activities such as Friday outing as well as Sabaka night organised by or for the new pilgrims are innovations that have no basis in Islam and could easily lead to making the hajj exercise a fruitless effort.
He lauded the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for adequate preparations which enhanced a successful exercise this year.
Alhaji Fasasi urged the commission to be proactive and put machineries in place to ensure that the lapses observed in this year’s exercise are addressed next year.
