Mahmud Jega couldn’t have chosen a more contemporaneous and relevant topic than the educational implosion in Kaduna State, involving the protesting but unqualified sacked teachers versus the diminutive Governor El- Rufa’i, which has polarized the state into two opposing (political?) camps, or rival power blocks, which Jega elegantly reported  in his weekly ‘The Monday Column’ of 13th November, 2017.

The Jega Monday Column has as far as I am concerned, convincingly  given broad,  independent  and objective viewpoints regarding the contending but controversial issues at stake, which  successfully managed to represent the positions of the two opposing camps with a delicate perspective for the readers, or the general public, to draw their conclusions from.

For me, it is very important to see the current educational crises in Kaduna State beyond the confines of that state boundary. This issue is broader and more complicated than its simplistic state confinement and it is naive to relegate its  current implications and fault lines to a mere local, sociopolitical power tussles between, as Jega coined it,”Quack teacher versus muckraker “.

Indeed, as Jega summarized the obvious facts in his write up, the Kaduna competency test, for me and all other committed patriots with deep passion for Nigeria’s future and generational growth and development, is not only needful but a timely intervention that has exposed a dangerous time bomb, waiting to ignite, which devastation would be unimagined, because, its centrifugal force of destructive consequences would be better envisaged than practically perceived, or acknowledged.

And like Jega clinically attested, this educational decay is the negative outcome of Nigeria’s long embedded debris of dirty political catharsis, promoted for personal selfish interests, to achieve unmerited blind ambition, by low value-cultured political elites, who have long sold their souls to the devils.

In the final analysis, it is quite obvious that, ‘this controversial muckraker is winning the educational rebranding war, like his previous social encounters elsewhere: and those opposed to him should be ashamed of their perpetual, ignoble and untoward infantile complex, because, like Albert Einstein postulates, “a clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it”. Unfortunately for El Rufai’s opponents, he happened to be both!

I  therefore enjoin all Nigerians opposed to the never say die diminutive governor of Kaduna State to rethink and embrace his rebranding mission, and see it, “as a national project meant to salvage the educational decay in the Northern parts of Nigeria in particular, and the nation in general”.

It is important to remember that, all the greatest transformations in all of human societies and positive changes are inspirationally triggered by passionate agents of change, which some pejoratively brand, “as muckrakers”.
